Valentin Jar (tenor)
Valentin Jar was born in Bucharest, Rumania, and studied at the conservatory in his native city before continuing his education at the opera department of the conservatory in The Hague.
Valentin Jar was a permanent resident soloist at both Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen and Oper Frankfurt, Germany, before staring his international career. He has performed at De Nederlandse Opera, Opera Stadt Köln, Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, Opéra National de Paris - Bastille, Opéra Royal van Wallonie, Opéra d’Avignon, Opéra de Lausanne, Genève, Toulouse, Caen, Rouen, de Vlaamse Opera, Ludwigshafen, Lisbon, and at the opera festivals in Wexford and Orange, singing roles such as Triquet (Eugene Onegin), Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Mime (Siegfried), Beppe (I Pagliacci), Steuermann (The flying Dutchman), Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), Valzacchi and Wirt (Der Rosenkavalier), Tanzmeister (Ariadne auf Naxos), Fatty (Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny), just to name a few.
Recently he has sung Fürst Ypsheim (Wiener Blut) in Krakau/Bydgosz in Poland, Teacher in ‘Lady Macbeth from Mtzensk’ (De Nederlandse Opera, Amsterdam), Monostatos in ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (International Opera Productions, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Idee Fixe, Belgium), Baron Mirko Zeta in ‘Die lustige Witwe’ (tour thru the Netherlands, Supierz Music Management), Erster Bürger and Erster Senator in ‘Die Gezeichneten’ by Schreker (De Nederlandse Opera, Amsterdam), St.Brioche in ‘Marry Widow’ (Opera Zuid, Maastricht, The Netherlands).
